Gravitas Magazine: Sisterhood For GoodMarch 2017 - Established in May 2011 by founding donor and administrator Angela Massaro-Fain, Sisterhood For Good is a fun, active giving circle that unites women who share common philanthropic goals. The group distributes grants annually to a number of local causes, including women's and children's issues, animal welfare, arts and education, health and safety, and hunger and homelessness.

Gals' Generosity Comes Full Circle

your observer 2016 02 16February 2016 - Members of the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund's six women's giving circles celebrated their charitable spirit during the seventh an-nual "Be My Galentine" event Feb. 8 at The Lake Club's Grande Clubhouse, Stillpoint House of Prayer celebrated as well. The Women's Charitable Fund, one of the six giving circles, presented a check for $4,000 to Stillpoint, which buys food to feed those in the commu-nity who are hungry.

Sisterhood For Good Has A Laugh And Helps Grow Funds for 2017

2016 10 CCLOctober 2016 - With this year's annual grant ceremony behind them, Sisterhood For Good, a donor-advised fund of the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund, hosted its first public "FUNdraiser" on September 1st at McCurdy's Comedy Theater. Their goal? To have a laugh and help a cause.

And that they did - With more that 150 supporters in attendance, comedian Carmen Ciricillo had the crowd roaring with laughter, all in hopes that Sisterhood For Good's 2017 grant ceremony will recognize even more recipients to build upon those awarded this past July.

Fourth Annual Grant Distribution Event

October 2016 - Sisterhood For Good, a donor-advised fund of the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund, held its fourth annual grant distribution event in July. With another record number of grant applicants this year, the giving circle awarded more that $3000 to local non-profits.

Each year the women of the giving circle gather to raise funds, discuss the varying needs of our community and vote on grant distribution based on the applications received. The organizations chosen by Sisterhood For Good to be this year's recipients are:

  • Sarasota Manatee Association for Riding Therapy, Inc (SMART)
  • Mark Wandall Foundation
  • Children's Healthy Pantry
  • Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee/Food Bank of Manatee
  • Child Protection Center, Inc.

Rowing Park COO Joins Sarasota County Parks Department

Sarasota County’s Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources department recently hired Nicole Rissler as its new deputy director of operations.

April 2016 - Sarasota County’s Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources department recently hired Nicole Rissler as its new deputy director of operations. Rissler is expected to start in early May. She will serve in a leadership role assisting department director Carolyn Brown in planning, implementing, directing and managing all operational functions and resources of the department. Rissler is currently the chief operating officer for Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Associates, which manages Nathan Benderson Park. She has held that position since June 2015.

Lisa Krouse is FCCI’s executive vice president and chief human resources officer.
April 2016 - Sarasota’s FCCI Insurance Group announced Friday that Lisa Krouse has been appointed to FCCI’s board of directors, effective April 27. Krouse is FCCI’s executive vice president and chief human resources officer and will retain her current position along with her board duties. Krouse has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry and in human resources. She joined FCCI in 2005. She is the first woman appointed to FCCI’s board.

March 2016 - Grapevine Communications, the area’s leading full-service advertising, marketing and public relations agency, is proud to announce that President and Founder Angela Massaro-Fain was recognized with the prestigious Silver Medal Award by the American Advertising Federation (AAF). The honor was presented at the ADDY Awards Gala on Saturday, March 12, 2016. Massaro-Fain is one of only five recipients of the Silver Award in over 20 years, and the second woman to receive the mark of distinction.
