Strong Women, Strong Minds for a Strong Community.
Established in May 2011 by founding donor and advisor Angela Massaro-Fain, Sisterhood For Good unites women who share common philanthropic goals. We derive our strength from the integration of the energies, talents and expertise of our diverse and dynamic members.
SFG began as a Women’s Giving Circle and Founder’s 50 member of the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund in conjunction with the Manatee Community Foundation. In 2011 SFG was required to establish an Endowment Fund with a minimum of $10,000. SFG met that obligation in 2013.
In 2018, our extensive growth in membership and fundraising allowed Sisterhood For Good the financial independence to register and become a 501 (c) (3) public charity. This achievement is an outstanding reflection of our dedicated, passionate members. SFG remains an all-volunteer, women-only organization dedicated to enhancing our community and cultivating the next generation of philanthropists through our strategic annual grant program.
Power in Numbers
Alone we can only do so much – but our impact grows exponentially when we stand together to make changes for the better. All funds collected by SFG are distributed in grants to the organizations or programs that matter most to our members.
Who Governs the Sisterhood For Good Public Charity?
As a 501(c)(3) public charity, Sisterhood For Good governs itself through its elected Officers and Committee Chairs. The elected Fund Administrator receives and forwards all official communication with Sisterhood’s Board of Directors and the staff of the Foundation. Funds collected by Sisterhood for Good are held and managed by the Manatee Community Foundation in: an Endowed Fund and a Grant Fund, as well as a Grant Fund held and managed by Sisterhood For Good, Inc. No monies are held by the Fund Administrator.
What is the financial commitment for members of Sisterhood For Good?
Each member of Sisterhood For Good must donate $1,000 over a course of a five-year period, which is only an obligation of $200 per year for five years. This provides women an affordable way to make a significant difference for local organizations in need. As the membership of Sisterhood For Good grows, we can achieve more of our community goals.
